Awoke one early morning twilight. My hotel room on the main street in Herat had a small balcony, and I sat on it and smoked a pipe of charas.

Beautiful, peaceful morning and a mountain lion came walking nonchalant down the center of the dirt street. About a  hundred yards behind were an afghan calvery troop, peacfully escorting it out of town.

An awsome moment in my memory.
