M.R. Pahlavi - Answer to History, my review
by mpb on March 15, 2008 12:11pm

The last Shah of Iran reveals and explains in his last book which was written after his departure and in exile the reasons and powers behind the revolution in 1979. After outlining the history of Iran, from Koroush-e Bozorg (Cyrus the Great) to the fall of the Qajar Dynasty, he explains the role of his father, Reze Shah-e Bozorg, in Iran. The things his father did for Iran and his accomplishments: From zero to modernity. The British role and their extreme oil interest in Iran in the begining of the 20th century until WWII, which was suffocating Iran. During WWII, Reza Shah-e Bozorg abdicates and the power is giving to his 20-year old son, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.

The Shah explains all the humiliations he as a young man and Iran had to go through because of the injustice pressure the British, US and Russia was putting on Iran and their greedy oil interests. He explains the 7-year plan he made to take Iran into the modern era but was ruined by Mossadegh and his incompetence. US helps the Shah to get rid of Mossadegh (later known as Operation Ajax, 1953) and the Shah makes his plans for the White Revolution (Enghelâb-e Sepid). The Shah outlines the White Revolution in details and the purpose of the White Revolution (e.g. progressive changes on status of women, distribution of land to peasants, distribution of stocks to factory labors, etc.). He explains he was struggling against time. He wanted to modernize Iran while Iran still had oil. He was convinced that Iran and the world would eventually ran out oil in short time (couple of decades), and therefore he tried to explain the world that other energi sources was needed. He mentiones atomic energi, solar energi, wind and alternative powers. He explains his policy towards increasing the oil prices to fair prices (oil at that time was cheaper than water!) so other forms of energy sources could compete with oil. The price of oil was raised by the Shah (and therefore OPEC) to a fair price, and the “West” could not pillage the oil at bargain prices no more (which resulted in the famous “1973-oil crises” in the “West”). He was opposed from the begining from all sides. Now 29 years after his fall the world can see he was right!

He explains why he wanted Iran to become a modern country. His plan was to make Iran a modern country while embracing the roots and fundamentals of the Iranian culture and society. A modern Iran who could compete with all other modern countries, like US, Britain, USSR, France, etc. Iran with its ancient culture and history who has contributed so much to the world only deserved to be among the best. He opposed communism and extreme capitalism. He wanted Iran to become a full fledged democracy (constitutional monarchy) within short time. He explains his proposal how to help Third World countries in Africa and Arabic countries. Not by “sharing the goods” like the Marxist ideology says, but by making these countries independent and self-sufficient, like Iran who was on its way to be completely independent. This proposal was also ignored or opposed by world powers.

He explains that this proposal together with Irans growing independence, his policy towards increasing oil prices, freedom of the women in Iran and his openly declaration that Iran would be a superpower (both military and economically (at the time Iran was the most powerful military force in Asia only second to China, also the most powerful economical power in Asia only second to Japan) resulted in an unholy secret alliance between the CIA, the British Intelligence Service, “the Black” (Mullahs) and “the Red” (Marxist-Islamoterrorism). Iran was getting too strong and too independent which was opposed by world powers - as he explains. In recent history the “West” and USSR have tried to destroy Iran and “wipe Iran off the map” twice in the 20th century – 1907 and 1947. Before that, the mongols, arabs, turks, etc. tried as well, but all failed. Now (1979) they are trying once more - Iranians are an extinct people! The Shah had to go and Iran had to be destroyed so the “West” could pillage the oil at bargain prices all over the region, one more time! And while at it, also pillage the rest of Iran's resources at bargain prices! The “Blacks” and “Reds” dragged the uneducated and unaware public to the streets to destroy the very roots of Iranian culture and society. What the “Blacks” and the “Reds” are doing in Iran, explains the Shah, is destroying our country and the Shah fears that Iran will never be able to rise again – that Iran is gone forever! Their “islamic revolution” is even against islam itself and the prophets words!

This book reveals the Shah as a nationalist, a patriot and a progressive modern man. All his explanations come with statistical facts (which one can check on UN’s website if you doubt the statistics he presents). He also explains the role of SAVAK (Sâzemâne Atallâ’at Va Amniate Keshwar) which had the same role as CIA in US, M15 in England, KGB in USSR, etc. but was misunderstood by the massmedias and used against him by the “Blacks” and “Reds”. SAVAK had 3200 memebers and all were educated by CIA in US – the role of SAVAK was to stop the increasing terrorism within the borders of the country for national security reasons. All “political prisoners” which the medias at that time (and many websites today) estimated at between 25.000 and 100.000 were wrong figures. From 1968 to 1977 there were 3.164 arrests made by SAVAK. Out of these only a handful were “political prisoners” – most of them were terrorists who had killed people. The Shah refers to Red Cross and other organizations who had checked and double checked these matters – he refers to their calculations as evidence for his claims.

He admits his mistakes: he was modernising the country too fast. He wasn’t good enough to communicate with the masses and wasn’t good at explaining the ideas. He also admits much more. The book also contains many of Shah’s meetings with some of the most powerful men of the 20th  century: Roosevelt, Churchill, Stalin, Khrushchev, Brezhnev, de Gaulle, Eisenhower, Nixon, Kissenger, etc.

Whether you agree, not agree or partly agree with the Shah, this is a fascinating book, entertaining and contains shocking revealings and gives you an understanding of the Shah’s policy. This book is the Shah’s answer to history – the world as it was seen through the Shah’s eyes. In this book you get his side of the story.

you love wearing your tinfoil hat don't you? I bet it looks really good on your big oval shaped head.

The U.S had nothing to do with the fall of the Shah. It was the Shah that kept the OPEC west-boycotting nations in check. It was Iran that flew F-14s into Soviet territory to test the Soviets. The U.S had ZERO reason to see the Shah fall.

You sir are the biggest idiot in the world. Let me guess. You also think Bush had something to do with 9/11.

Facts are clear. Shah was a coward who fled Iran like a girly man. Kind of like you. Maybe you two are related.

This is a review, you stupid idiot! I have only referred to the opinions the Shah expressed in this book, not to my own convictions. You’re just an uneducated fool, an illiterate little mullah lover. Stop posting in this thread if you don’t have any constructive things to say

A review of what? a book?

Just because someone writes a book it doesn't make it a fact. You do know this right? You are clearly an idiot.

There is ZERO evidence to suggest the CIA helped overthrow the Shah. Do not ever say that to anyone. They will laugh in your face.

Kind of like how I will laugh in your face when you tell me you were part of the military.. which is COMPLETE B.S. Like your posts

First of all, you’re the only one who speaks about facts, moron – I never talked about facts in this thread (only when referring to statistics)! Secondly, this book is open for further investigations. I never said the Shah was right or wrong in his opinions – as I state in my post:

Whether you agree, not agree or partly agree with the Shah, this is a fascinating book (...) This book is the Shah’s answer to history – the world as it was seen through the Shah’s eyes. In this book you get his side of the story

The only time I said he was right was when I wrote:

Now 29 years after his fall the world can see he was right!

Which he was when it comes to finding other sources for energy. This is the policy of most “Western” countries today: finding new sources of energy, at least officially!

If anyone laughs, it’s me! You’re just an uneducated loser who wants attention by undermining the authenticity of the author’s claims with childish posts like “you’re an idiot”, “the Shah was an idiot” etc., which has nothing to do with this thread! And by judging from your bullshit posts and your low intellectual capacity, I bet you haven’t even read the book.

If people want their opinions about the Shah’s point of views as expressed in this book they can read this book and decide for themselves. No one asked you to come here and post bullshit about nothing!

It seems you’re afraid of people actually might find this book interesting and choose to read it. Who are you to decide what people shall read or not? This is not Iran. This is the free world. You cannot forbid books or knowledge from people. What you’re trying to say is:

“no no no people, don’t read this books. It’s all a lie. The Shah is an idiot, so is Persian Immortal. Read Khomeini books instead”

I just finished making a pizza in the oven. Want to buy the aluminum foil off of me for your tinfoil hat? It has a nice pepporoni and onion smell to it too.
