I will never forget him...
my first true love
so tall dark and handsome
just like a fairytale

he held my hand
brushed my cheek with his hand
kissed my forehead
and said "i love you"

looking at him and smiling
saying "i love you too"
and really meaning it
he was the one for me

When I listen to that certain song...I cry
When I think of you not being with me...I cry
When I''m alone with my thoughts and no one to turn to...I cry
When I think about how the world should be...I cry
And when I look at you and you don't look at me back...inside I die.

This is a poem I translated from Farsi into English--the Farsi version was written by a friend of mine, Hessam Hessamyan--a young and aspiring persian poet in Toronto. Look him up. I love the imagery the poem brings... and hence chose to translate it.

Your Body is my Homeland

Homeland, me, body, you

Those nights my heart cries out,

I turn to your body

I’m lost—so easily—in the fabric of your clothes

Your body, so pure

My body, full of sin

In this cold and dead city, your body is sorrow’s escape

Did you find me on the road that led to nowhere?

(But i will say this... one shouldn't have to change for someone, like you said, you were too different... i guess then it would be called a mutual heartbreak?--who knows.)
